Karma Yoga
Karma Yoga is one of the four main paths of yoga (along with Bhakti, Jnana, and Raja Yoga). The word “Karma” means action, and “Yoga” means union. So, Karma Yoga is the path of selfless action — doing one’s duty without attachment to the results.
Karma Yoga teaches that every action can become a form of worship if done with the right attitude — without ego, selfishness, or desire for reward. It’s about doing your best and letting go of the outcome.
Core Principles
Selfless Service (Seva)
Work for the benefit of others, not just yourself.
Detachment (Vairagya)
Don’t get attached to success or failure; focus only on doing the right thing.
Duty (Dharma)
Perform your responsibilities sincerely, as an offering to the Divine.
Purification of Mind
When we act selflessly, our mind becomes pure and calm, preparing us for higher spiritual growth.
In the Bhagavad Gita
Lord Krishna explains Karma Yoga to Arjuna — “Do your duty, but do not be attached to the fruits of your actions.”
This teaching reminds us that peace comes from action done with dedication, not from avoiding responsibility.
